Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, felicitated and awarded medals to outstanding athletes during the recently culminated World Para Athletics Championship 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here.

Curtains were drawn on the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships on Saturday. Dubbing it as the largest Para sport competition ever hosted in India, the ADGPI, in a post on X, wrote, “Over 1,000 athletes from across the world are competing in 186 medal events—101 for men, 84 for women, and one mixed event—surpassing the previous edition held in Kobe, Japan.”

“The Chief of Army Staff also interacted with other para-athletes, including those from the Indian Army who participated in the event, commending their dedication and achievements. The event served as a proud moment for the nation, celebrating the remarkable achievements of India’s para-athletes who continue to inspire millions and elevate the country’s standing on the global sporting stage,” the post said further.

Earlier, the government had stated that beyond medals and records, the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championship stands as a symbol of inclusion and accessibility. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was upgraded with a new MONDO track and athlete-friendly facilities, meeting global standards to ensure every competitor has the platform to excel.
